Community

"There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about."

– Margaret J. Wheatley

Why partner together now?

We stand at a critical juncture with a unique opportunity in hand. Our community has been divided over the levy vote. Both sides of the division can agree on one thing though; we want the best for our students.

Not just a one-lane bridge…

Yes, we hope to bridge educational services lost to students due to the levy failure and resultant budget cuts. We also want to bridge the divide in our community over this vote by using the energy and passion that is present right now and directing it towards a constructive outlet.

We believe The Bridge has the ability to bring together proponents from both sides of the vote to work collaboratively on the one thing both sides agree on…the wellbeing of Yelm students.

The Bridge only works if there are community organizations and volunteers willing to build it. Much of the structure already exists within the organizations that already serve within our city.

The ask…

We need organizations, leaders, and individuals to raise their hands and say “We are in!” We need those same people to lay their resources on the collective table so that we can see what all we can offer Yelm students.

We need schools who can offer meeting spaces, volunteer networks, and transportation.

We need businesses who can offer networks or relationships and funding.

We need churches who can offer facility space.

We need organizations who are already offering these services and have a cadre of skilled volunteers and leaders.

We need individuals who can lead, administrate, run social media, build websites, communicate with partners, lead fund-raising, and so much more…
